Sitting grandly high on a hill, glistening in the sun, the new Eaton Center building is quite an impressive sight to behold to the west as one travels along Interstate 271. Of course, it looks just as impressive from nearby Richmond Road, and still more so when one stands within its ultra-modern, bluish glass walls. Although the 600,000-square-foot structure began welcoming employees in February, it was on April 2 that Eaton Center was officially dedicated.

Representatives of Eaton Corp. and the Richard E. Jacobs Group showed several images of the manufacturer's planned corporate headquarters during a City Council meeting Monday night. Eaton will ask Beachwood's planning and zoning commission on March 25 to consider a variance for 1,292 parking spaces for the project, a 53-acre corporate campus on the Chagrin Highlands property. The project will include a 10-story tower, flanked by two four- or five-story wings connected by a glass atrium.

The Richard E. Jacobs Group has filed initial site plans for the $170 million Eaton Corp. world headquarters facility to be built in the Chagrin Highlands development. Eaton, the largest Fortune 500 company with headquarters in downtown Cleveland, is moving to Beachwood.
